Dr. Tanmoy Mitra has been working in the field of psychological treatment, therapy and research for more than 25 years. Dr. Mitra holds a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours and Master of Science degree in Biology; He has studied Biopsychology at The Ohio State University, USA and received a Doctorate degree in the area of psychiatric treatment from the University of Calcutta. His doctoral research focused on behavioral changes in psychiatric patients in response to pharmacological treatment and role of some biopsychological indicators.

Since 1991, Dr. Mitra has had specialist experience in the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders at the Ohio State University Medical Center, USA. He remained actively involved with Psychiatry Department of Ohio State University, both in a clinical and researcher role from 1990 to 1998.
After coming back to India, he was involved with Diagnostic & Applied Neuropsychological Association at Kolkata and worked as research fellow at RG Kar Medical College & Hospital. Since 2005 he has been associated with National Institute of Behavioural Sciences (NIBS) at Moulali, Kolkata.
Dr. Mitra has experience delivering both group and individual treatments in hospitals and outpatient clinics, helping people discover the necessary awareness and skills needed to manage or resolve their difficulties. He has also been responsible for developing and implementing group treatment programs for adults attending a mood and anxiety disorders psychiatric unit, as well as providing an outreach program for community patients in remote areas.
With a special interest in using evidence-based therapies, Dr. Mitra utilizes a range of techniques drawing from Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, and Acceptance-Based Therapies.

He is committed to providing a high quality of care to all his clients within a warm and supportive therapeutic environment and aims to continuously further his clinical knowledge through ongoing professional education and training. He has been continuously publishing research articles at journals and writing popular articles at newspaper and health magazines.
Dr. Mitra has been working for more than 18 years with people experiencing difficulties with depression, anxiety (including obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder and excessive worry), trauma, parenting, relationships, self esteem, stress, brain injury, drug and alcohol and adult ADHD and related issues.
He also has training in the assessment and treatment of children experiencing attention deficits, behavioral problems, and difficulties in emotional functioning (anxiety, depression, etc.). He also involves parents providing psycho education. He takes a lifespan development approach, taking care to view people’s problems within the context of their particular age and stage, as well as within their unique situation.
